Ok guys so last week was the relaxed start to this Quiltalong, all you needed to do was post a picture of your fabric pull, easy peasy…but now the hard work starts lol!
Winner of Week 1 Prize, the Sarah Ashford Project Pouch, is…..Tracy from "@RedKiteandDoe!
If you’re just joining in now, you can get the pattern here
So this week you’ll be making Block 1.
For those of you doing the Sampler version, you will be making Block 1: Asymmetric Stripes. I used three different orange fabrics in mine but it really doesn’t matter if you do two or more. And of course it doesn’t have to be orange! It can be any colour you like. Make it yours! I used fabric from the Foundation Range from Windham Fabrics.
But you might have chosen to make the plain blocks instead. You might be choosing to showcase your favourite fabrics or fussy cut a fun novelty print into the spool centre. I’ve made one with this fun sewing themed print. If you are making the plain blocks, make sure to remember to make three leaning left and three leaning right over the next 6 weeks, otherwise they won’t tumble!
Be sure to post a picture of your block to your Instagram page using the hash tags #tumblingspoolsqal and #thecraftynomadpatterns so we can see your fab makes and more importantly for you, so you qualify for entry for this week's prize! Deadline for entries is 8pm (GMT) Thursday 17th January 2019. On Instagram you can ‘follow’ the hashtag. I would encourage you do that for this one so you can see all the other people joining in and encourage them along and get wonderful inspiration.
Note: your profile settings must be set to public (not private) for everyone to be able to see your posts. If I can’t see the post then unfortunately you can’t be entered into the prize draw that week!
Week 2 Prize!
The prize this week is from Sulky of America. Sulky specialise in thread and stabilisers. I LOVE their Rayon thread. It’s what I used on my original version of this quilt. I chose to use Rayon as it really catches the light, much more than regular cotton. So if using that to quilt the words, it will help the words really pop out amazingly!
Sulky are giving one lucky quiltalong participant the chance to win this RAINBOW set of seven 850yd spools of Rayon thread. So this would be great for someone planning to quilt their words. I may even be able to get this to you before your start that part! This one is open for worldwide entries.
To be in with a chance to win, make sure to post a picture of Block 1 (plain or sampler) before 8pm (GMT) Thursday 17th January 2019. Use the hashtags #tumblingspoolsqal and #thecraftynomadpatterns and tag me in the post!
Looking forward to seeing all the different versions of this popping up on Instagram!
There will be a prize assigned to each week of the sewalong. It will be clearly stated if it is available to be mailed to an international address or just UK postage in the weekly post/email.
In order to be considered for a prize, you'll need to post a picture of that week's completed task to your Instagram page by a certain time/date stated in the weekly post/email. You'll need to add the hashtags: #tumblingspoolsqal; and #thecraftynomadpatterns, to the text of the post and tag @thecraftynomadfleet in the post. Make sure your profile is not set to private. It will need to be set to public so we can all see it.
It is possible to join in on Facebook but you'll need to follow these steps to make sure that we can all see your picture. When posting, select Public from the drop down box. Use the hashtags exactly as given above (no capitals or spaces). And tag @the crafty nomad in the post.
The weekly winner will be announced a few days after the weekly deadline.
It's fine to sew ahead. If you know you are going to be busy one week and want to sew your blocks ahead of time, that's absolutely fine. Just remember to be considered for the weekly prize, the posts must be made within the allotted time frame so I can see it when I do my search.
By joining in, you agree that any photos you share using the hashtag may be reposted by me to social media or shared via email to others joining in, or on The Crafty Nomad website. They will always be attributed to the maker.
In the unlikely event that a prize becomes unavailable then a substitute will be sent instead.
