Come and have a fun time with like minded people. Have fun learning a new skill.

What: Perhaps you have mastered straight line quilting but would love to try some free motion quilting.  During this skills session I will demonstrate various popular free motion quilting designs that are great for beginners and you will practice these and produce some sample squares to take home with you for reference.   Perfect for someone taking their first steps in Free Motion Quilting. This session is always fun and relaxed, come and build your confidence. Motifs we will practise are as pictured: basic meander (stipple); loops; pebbles; wavy lines ; and fillers.

Who: This workshop is aimed at people who already know how to use their sewing machine competently but who want to learn a new skill. Ideally will have made a quilt before.

When: Sunday 9th February 2020 - 9.45 - 12.45pm

Where: The workshop will be held in Hook, conveniently situated just off the M3 (Jn 5), in Hook Community centre. Free parking available. Train station about a 15 minute walk away. The hall is upstairs and has a stair-lift but no actual lift, so sadly isn’t accessible for wheelchairs. I do normally have my helpful husband with me to help carry machines upstairs!

How Much: £30 - this includes: 3 hours of tuition and the class notes; tea, coffee, delicious cake and biscuits.

(Booking more than one class and need a payment plan? It’s possible to pay a non refundable deposit and then pay the remaining balance in stages with full payment due no later than 6 weeks before the class. Contact me to discuss.)

(NOTE: in the afternoon of the same day there is a follow on class from this one. If you book both sessions (£30 each) you will get a £5 refund, so it will cost £55 instead of £60 for the full day. For details of that class, click here.)

What to Bring:

  • Your Sewing Machine (in full working order) with pedal, manual and cables - Your machine must have the capability to do Free Motion, by either lowering the feed dogs or covering them. If in doubt please contact me before booking.

  • Darning presser foot

  • Basic sewing kit (scissors, pins etc)

  • Materials for the class (a list will be sent to you after booking)

  • Notepad to take notes

  • If attending the afternoon class as well then please also bring your lunch (there is a fridge available). There is also a cafe at the community centre.

Once you have booked, you will be sent an email confirmation and then, nearer the time, a full materials list and pattern. Please also check your spam folder for Booking confirmation and add jo@thecraftynomad.co.uk to your safe list to prevent emails from going astray.
