Come and have a super fun day with like minded people. Have fun learning a new skill.

What: During this sewing skills session you will learn how to master foundation paper piecing (FPP). Foundation paper piecing is a type of patchwork where you stitch the fabric directly onto the lines of a paper template. It allows you to get very fiddly shapes and sizes pieced very accurately, which would be more difficult to get a good finish if piecing traditionally.

During the morning I will:

  • Demonstrate how to do FPP by making a star block, perfect to make into a cushion

  • Discuss various tips for effective FPP, talk about the challenges of working with directional fabric and fussy cutting

  • Be on hand to help you when you have a go at making a star block

In the afternoon, you can choose to:

  • Continue working on your star, and make it into a cushion

  • Try out a slightly harder star (not pictured)

  • Bring along any other The Crafty Nomad patterns that you already have that contain FPP and work on them.

Who: This workshop is aimed at people who already know how to use their sewing machine competently but who want to learn a new skill.

When: Sunday 5th May 2019 - 10-4pm

Where: The workshop will be held in Hook, conveniently situated just off the M3 (Jn 5), in Hook Community centre. Free parking available. Train station about a 15 minute walk away. The hall is upstairs and has a stair-lift but no actual lift, so isn’t accessible for wheelchairs.

How Much: £60 - this includes: 6 hours of tuition; tea, coffee, delicious cake and biscuits and a door prize

What to Bring:

  • Your Sewing Machine (in full working order) with pedal, manual and cables.

  • Tools

  • Materials for the project (a list will be sent to you after booking)

  • Notepad to take notes

  • Your lunch (there is a fridge available). There is a cafe on site should you prefer to buy your lunch, ordering in the morning is recommended as they get very busy.

Once you have booked, you will be sent an email confirmation and nearer the time a full materials list. Please also check your spam folder for Booking confirmation and add jo@thecraftynomad.co.uk to your safe list to prevent emails from going astray.

Full payment is due upon booking your place on the class. Workshops are for adults only.

Cancellation Policy: Once you have booked, your place is non-refundable. This is due to the cancellation terms for the hiring of the hall.
