Thread Spool Sewing Machine Pin Cushion

This pattern will show you how to make a handy pin cushion that attaches to your sewing machine so that you always have pins to hand when needed and somewhere safe to put them when removing them as you sew. You might choose to incorporate one of the two variations of spool foundation paper pieced pattern. There is a traditional one and also one that looks just like Aurifil spools! This pin cushion makes a really unique gift for friends that sew and is great for online swaps!

I’ve also included larger versions of the two FPP patterns in case you want to make yourself a matching zipped pouch. I used the Aurifil-like pattern when making one of Aneela Hoey’s Inside Outside Pouches for a friend (pictured). Pouch Pattern NOT included!

The pattern includes:

  • Full materials requirements

  • Full colour instructions

  • Cutting & Piecing Instructions

  • Foundation Paper Piecing Patterns for two thread spool designs

  • Lots of helpful tips for those new to foundation paper piecing

  • Instructions to add an optional needle keeper to one side.

  • There are heaps of diagrams to accompany the text, so it's great if you are a visual learner!

Make sure to read the whole pattern all the way through before beginning your project.

If you haven’t tried foundation paper piecing before then please check out my free pattern and video tutorial available on my website.

This is a Paper Pattern that will be mailed to you in the post. The PDF version will be available in early 2019
